The Spongebob Musical Auditions
Hello and thank you for your interest in auditioning for Spongebob Squarepants the Musical at Exit 7 Players! We are looking to cast 25-30 people. Every person who is cast, will have an important role in bringing this beloved cartoon to life on stage. Our hope is that this will present a unique opportunity for the amazing talent we are fortunate to have here in the local community.
We have a jam packed season here at Exit 7 Players. It is exciting! As we close one show, we are preparing to open the next. We are seeking mature actors with previous experience who can appropriately rehearse and prepare for a show, oftentimes in a “rehearsal” space, rather than on the stage where the performance will take place. As such, please also note the following:
*We are casting the show with individuals 18 and up. 16 and 17 year olds can still audition with a parent permission slip.
Audition Format
Auditionees will be asked to read and sing a selection from the show in a CLOSED INDIVIDUAL audition. You will select an audition slot by filling out our audition form. Please pick one of the selected songs see below. The Music Director will be there to assist with accompaniment. We will have copies of music at the audition. A character breakdown is provided below for additional information.
Auditionees will also be asked to learn a short dance combination for an OPEN GROUP dance call. Please bring your dance shoes, including tap shoes, if you have them. If you don’t own dance shoes, please bring shoes that you can dance in. Sneakers are also fine. You may also want to bring water. Spongebob Squarepants the Musical has a variety of dance styles. Some include tap dancing, western, hip hop, musical theater and much more.

Synopsis
Plunge into this stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show! When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. The power of optimism really can save the world!
The SpongeBob Musical Character Descriptions (Most characters can be played by any gender.)
SpongeBob SquarePants (Range: C3-B4) optimistic, innocent; energetic and sometimes hyperactive. This actor should move well and be an extremely physical actor - unafraid of climbing and being on tall objects. Naturally funny with great comedic skills and precision. Strong pop tenor. **Please practice the laugh.
Sandy Cheeks (Range: A3-E5) A brainy athletic Texan squirrel who came to Bikini Bottom for a research project. SpongeBob's most trusted ally on their quest to stop the volcano from erupting. Martial Arts skills are a plus. The actor must be unafraid of climbing and being on tall objects. Able to speak in a Western accent is a plus.
Patrick Star (Range: Bb2-Bb4) Well-intentioned, but clueless, an innocent; a big softie, who can also be prone to sudden child-like fits of rage or frustration.
Squidward Q. Tentacles (Range: A2-F#4) Grumpy, cynical, dry, short tempered, generally negative but lovable! This Actor must move well. Strong tapper preferred.
Eugene Krabs (Range: B2-Bb4) The greedy owner of the Krusty Krab, and employer of SpongeBob and Squidward. Does whatever he can to make himself richer.
Sheldon J. Plankton (Range: B2-G#4) His personality outweighs his size- slick, scheming, nefarious; has the ability to charm; determined, he will do anything to get ahead in life; but his heart is still open enough to rekindle a romance with his wife. This character will need to dance and rap.
Karen the Computer (Range: G#3-F#5) Sassy, the computer wife of Plankton. She's been there for Plankton's every scheme and plot. Strong comic actress, as well as Singer and Mover.
Pearl Krabs (Range:Bb3-F#5) Mr. Krabs' teenage daughter who just wants to be understood by her father and sing with the Electric Skates. This is a character role with Gospel vocal overtones. This character can be played by any gender, including Drag performers.
The Mayor of Bikini Bottom (Range: F#4-B5) Standard Politician.
Perch Perkins (Range: E2-E4) News reporter. **Must be male or male presenting.
Patchy the Pirate (Range: D3-F4 F5 falsetto) Misunderstood pirate from the painting. Comedic.
Electric Skates: (Tenor, Baritone, Bass): Rock and roll band members, the Skates are hard-core rockers. Very comfortable on skateboards (ability to do tricks a plus). Also open to rollerblades/inline skating if the actor is expert. The Electric Skates can be played by any gender.
Town Fish: A variety of character types to play several featured ensemble roles; Roles for groups, soloist and comedians as well as strong dance roles. They include:
Sardines, Security Guards, Old Man Jenkins, Mrs. Puff, Plankton's Dancers, Pirates, Larry the Lobster, and MUCH MORE!
